By ResLife1 16 Sep 2020

Sports Facilities Provided by Cardiff University:

There are many indoor and outdoor facilities provided by Cardiff University, and they can be booked by anyone or used by joining the university sports societies. Although the sports facilities are spread across the campus, most of them are available at the Cardiff University sports centre called the “Sports Training Village”, which is located next to the Talybont North accommodation.

Facilities at Sports Training Village:

There are both indoor and outdoor facilities available. Flood lights make it possible to use the facilities in the evening.

Indoor Sport Facilities:

The Sports Centre is located at Talybont North, which has got facilities for all ranges of sports including indoor cricket, badminton, squash, gymnastics and indoor football and basketball. Most of the sports societies train here. The courts can be booked individually by any student as well, so you can go and play your favourite sport at any time (Fig 7).

Outdoor Sports facilities:

If you are a lover of outdoor sports, Cardiff University has various outdoor pitches and courts. It has got two 3G football pitches, a hockey AstroTurf pitch, a basketball and handball outdoor court which are available to be booked at any time (figure 8).
The best part is that there is free parking available at the Sports Centre, and so you don’t have to pay for the parking in order to play sports. Although these sports facilities are mostly prioritised for students, they are open to be booked by anyone and not necessarily by only a student. Hence, it is best practice to book the courts in advance otherwise you won’t always find your chosen availability at the spot.
